The Star Hotel is on the corner of Star Hill and Rochester High Street. Note triangular tram junction and houses in Ironmonger Lane (now Corporation Street) |
Hi looks like this will be an interesting site to browse through. Always enjoy looking at old pics. Some places have changed almost out of recognition.

Thanks Glen. I'm inviting guest bloggers to post on here. My first one has just been posted. Have a read.
DeleteDo you know if the Sar Hotel was in front of the now take away building before the star was pulled down as im looking at the pointed roof and wonder if that is the building that now stands there but maybe was behind the Star back then. By the way great pictures keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteGood question. Quick answer..I have no idea ;-) I will look at other photos and ask about. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteHello Bambi. Sorry its taken ages to get an answer to you. But I believe with the help of the Kent History Forum members I can now let you know about the buildings.
DeleteIn the 1867 map the Star Hotel is there but the buildings behind are not. They must have been built at a later date, while the Star hotel was still standing. They are there in a 1927 picture. There was some kind of walkway between them. Once the Star had been pulled down the remaining buildings have stayed till this day.
